INTRODUCTION:
I’ve made this for you because of
Father’s Day. Why John Jury? Well, he was your father’s, father’s,
father’s, father’s, father’s, father’s, father (seven’s a great number!). Hopefully, it will be useful. Here’s your descent: Kenneth Eugene James, George Francis James,
Francis Jacob James, William Henry James, William Francis James, Joseph James,
Joseph Jury, John Jury.
BIOGRAPHY:
John Jury was born about 1775
(end of 1775 or beginning of 1776) in Somerset,
England. He was apparently a carpenter and lived on Periwinkle Street. Not much else is known about him. He married Susannah Thomas (born about 1775?)
on June 18, 1798. They had several
children. The were apparently Anne (christened
December 2, 1798), John (christened October 11, 1801), William (christened
February 24, 1805), Joseph (christened August 30, 1807), Mary (christened March 18, 1810), George
(christened October 12, 1812), Elizabeth (christened November 19, 1815), and
possibly James (christened April 3, 1820).
Joseph was our ancestor. He
married Mary James by common-law. He was
a sailor that went to sea, but never returned.
John Jury was buried at Milverton on March 19,
1848.
