Harry Wesley Lesher
Harry Wesley Lesher 1907 ~ 2004  Harry Wesley Lesher, age 96, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2004 in Sandy, Utah.  Wesley was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1907, to Horace and Hannah Elizabeth Fox Lesher. He attended schools in Philadelphia and later began his career as a cabinet maker in his uncle's shop. During World War II he worked in a Philadelphia shipyard on submarines. In 1943 he transferred to Hawaii, where he labored in the Pearl Harbor shipyard. While residing in Hawaii, he became a member of the LDS Church. After 20 months in Hawaii, his tour of duty ended, and he came to Salt Lake City where he set up residence. On July 14, 1945 he married Eliza Nelson in Provo, Utah. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple a few months later. They lived in the Salt Lake area all their married lives. Two children, Gwendolyn Elizabeth and Nelson Wesley were born to them. For seven years, Wesley worked for Fetzer Cabinet Shop. He also had his own business making cabinets for family and friends. His creations in wood were the work of an artist, to which family and friends would readily agree. Wesley went into construction, working as superintendent or foreman on commercial buildings, Cottonwood Mall, churches and stores. He was a member of Carpenters' Union #184 for 59 years. After becoming a Latter-day Saint, he served in many positions and callings: Elders' Quorum presidency, Seventies' Quorum president, High Priests' Quorum presidency, two stake missions and ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. Wesley was a very kind, patient, generous man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was more than fair in his business dealings, and was a righteous example to all who knew him. He is survived by his wife Eliza of Sandy, Utah; one daughter, Gwendolyn Elizabeth Brandt (David, deceased) of Hyrum, Utah; one son, Nelson Wesley (Kim) of Sandy, Utah; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 27 at the South Cottonwood Third Ward Chapel, 980 E. Revere Circle (5555 S.), Murray, Utah at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services. Interment will be at the Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, Sandy, Utah.
