Obituary: Ernest Robert ""Bob"" Froelich
On November 13, 1999 our loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather,
brother, and friend, Ernest Robert "Bob" Froelich, passed from this life.
Bob was born January 28, 1929 in Murray, Utah to Ernest Alvin and Leah
Barrus Froelich. He served in the US Army in Berlin as a German
interrogator. He was a devoted member and High Priest of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and he faithfully served in the
Swiss-Austrian Mission. He continued to love the German language and people
throughout his life.
After graduating from BYU in 1957 with a degree in marketing, Bob married
Lucille Finlayson and started his family in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He later
divorced, then enjoyed almost 25 happy years of marriage with Sally Meranda
Allen.
He had a highly successful career in Idaho with Mutual of New York (MONY)
as a Life Underwriter, and was well respected by his clients and those he
served. Bob led the State of Idaho for MONY in the number of new clients
per year for many years. He served as president of the Idaho State
Association of Life Underwriters. He was named Man of the Year for the MONY
Boise agency; then later, Man of the Year for the Idaho State Life
Underwriter's Association. He was named Honor Club Vice President for MONY
Western Region. Bob was a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table,
and earned the Chartered Life Underwriters (CLU) designation from the
American College of Life Underwriters. He received many other awards and
honors, too numerous to mention.
His passion was for his family. He loved tennis and the outdoors, especially
when spending time there with his children and grandchildren. He battled
Parkinson's disease for his last 30 years. Because he never gave up, he was
able to remain surprisingly independent despite the normally disabling
effects of this disease. His positive attitude radiated out to all the
people he touched. Bob was full of life and had a tremendous desire to
achieve and to help others. He passed on these qualities to each of his
children and grandchildren. The world is a better place because he was in
it. "We will miss him very much."
He is survived by his wife; Sally, mother; Leah, brother; Dale (Krista),
children; Mark (Michelle) Froelich, Diane (Kent) Sweat, David (Jeanette)
Froelich, Doug (Janet) Froelich, Geri Allen McMurdie, foster daughter;
Maxine (Ron) Noisyhawk, special niece; Celeste Meranda, and 16 grandchildren.
Heart felt appreciation, love and thanks to Dr. Robert Satovick for all of
his help over the years.
Funeral services will be held Thur. November 18, 1999 at 2 pm at the
Cottonwood 7 th Ward Chapel, 5565 S. Neighbor Lane (1610 E.). Friends may
call at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 S. State St., on Wed. evening from
6-8 p.m. or one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday.
Interment will be at the Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the
family suggests sending donations to the Utah Chapter of the Parkinson's
Disease Support Group.
