| John Zerkle family and horses This is possibly what Rozella Kimble Zerkle wrote to one of her grandchildren: "Yes, this is your great grandpa John Zerkle. In the buggy is your great grandma Della Zerkle. Next to her is their child your grandpa William Byron Zerkle. In the back seat behind them is Della's mother. John is standing between the draft horses and their buggy horses, Lady and Pet. The draft horses were their work horses, the buggy horses were only used for the buggy. This is in front of their barn in Olney, Illinois, note the mud that the horses and John are standing in and the long sleeve coats, it must have been winter. The photo must have been taken about the time they moved West." |
