Joseph took his mother's maiden name of James.

- Jeremiah James ordered the death certificate of a Joseph James. He transcribed the following:
"Registration District East London
1858 Death in the Sub-district of Cripplegate in the County of London
No. 1190
When and where died: Thirteenth February 1858, 12 Well Street, St.
Giles Cripplegate
Name and surname: Joseph Jury
Sex: Male
Age: 50 years
Occupation: Wood Turner
Cause of death: Decline 10 months, Fistula 6 months, subject to gout, Certified Signature, description and residence of informant: M. J. Jury, Present at the death, 12 Well Street, London When registered: Seventeenth February 1858 Signature of registrar: J. Def???, Registrar"
He also notes "that 12 Well Street is the address where we found Joseph Jury and Mary J. Jury living with 3 children in the 1851 census. It appears to have been a boarding house, as there were 5 families living there. I can't quite make out the signature of the registrar, but I don't think that matters much anyway."
